One layer Christmas Card

A really simple card from me today, but it took me forever to make it, if you take into account the 4 attempts that all ended in the trash bin. I'm clearly not a one layer crafter, but that's what the ladies over at Ink wants to see this fortnight so here goes:)

Being inspired by the Sweet Sunday sketch for my final attempt I masked off the the white space using masking tape, stamped the Magnolia image and used clear embossing powder to make sure the ink wouldn't create a mess once starting sponging the blue sky.
Then I colored thre tree using a paintbrush and distress ink pads. The white ground is covered with WOS, but I couldn't capture the sparkle in the photo.

I stamped a Christmas greeting, but kind of regret that I did. I should have left it without a sentiment, but not being very keen on starting on a 6th onelayer card I'm going with it as it is now.

This card is for these challenges:
Inkspirational - One layer card
The Sweetest Thing - #284 Sketch
Addicted to CAS - Blue

    You're an angel

It's Thursday and time for an OLDIE BUT GOODIE over at Catch the Bug and a new challenge over at Outlawz Twisted Thursday. This week there's no twist - a plain ad easy "ANYTHING GOES".

I colored the image using Promarkers and silver and gold metallic gel pens. The sentiment (you're an angel) is heat embossed using gold EP.
    The background paper is embossed.
As for embellies I kept it simple, adding just 3 sequins and stitching with a metallic gold thread around the edges.

This card is also for these challenges:
    House of Cards - Metallics
Get Creative Challenges - No Printed Papers
Deep Ocean Challenge - #111 - For The Boys

    Melt

Tuesday is new release day over at  Bugaboo and this is my DT card showcaseing one of Jodie's latest images.
I printed the image onto plain white paper and didn't add any color at all. I cut them out and worked on my design. The background paper is black cardstock which I embossed with an embossing folder, then I sprinkled silver EP and heat set it. I quite like how it turned out, looking a bit melted and aged. I added a panel of black paper which I decorated with the images, a die cut film strip (die from Marianne) covered with acetate so I could make a shaker adding a few sequins. The flowers are die cut (die from Memory Box) as is the panel for the sentiment (dies from Dienamics). The sentiment is heat embossed. I'm addicted to patterned papers, I hoard them and love them, but lately I'm finding myself enjoying making cards using other alternatives.

This card is also for these challenges:
    Inkspirational - Word "Melt"
Crafty Cardmakers - No Patterned Paper
Sparkle N Sprinkle - Anything Goes with Loose Glitter, Embossing Powder and/or Flocking
Come and Get It - Black and white with one color (silver)

    Astronaut

I'm here to share my DT card for the new PHOTO challenge over at Catch the Bug, featuring the image Astronaut 3.

My starting point was the image, which I colored with Promarkers before I added glossy accent to the helmet. Then I found a DP from a Pebbles paper pad I thought suited the "out of space theme". The earth is cut using a Tim Holtz die, I covered it with silver EP and heat embossed it.
Finally I stamped a birthday greeting in Norwegian.

This card is alsro for these challenges:
Daring Cardmakers - Let's Hear it for the Boys
Just Add Ink – #276 Cards for Males

I colored the image using Promarkers, fussy cut it and mounted it onto a die cut tag decorated with ribbon ans string and die cut seashells. For the background I used a brown DP from Maja Design which I heat embossed with gold EP, using a map stamp from Prima. The swirls are stamped, heat embossed and cut out. The sentiment is cut out from a DP and says "to the coolest boy".

    CASEing Monika

Monika of Creative with Monika invited me to join a personal challenge, where she CASEs one of my cards of her choice and I one of hers. Monika uses lots of stencils and stamps to make her own papers. She makes many masculine cards and her feminine ones often include shoes. So I chose to case this card as I absolutely loved how she used her Prima girl stamp. So I took out my own doll stamp and got to work. I used a piece of scrap to paper piece her dress, colored the legs. And the stripes on Monika's card gave me the idea of adding a strip of vellum onto which I heat embossed the sentiment with gold EP. A very quick and easy card with no embellies.

This card is for these challenges:
TIME OUT Challenges - #37 Friendship is Golden
Allsorts - Share your favourite colour (Brown and I love gold too)
CAS on Sunday - #65 Vellum

    2015 Christmas Card #21 - Black&Gold

This is the 21st Christmas card I've made in 2015. For my layout and colors I was inspired by the Muse Christmas card #15 - the gold and black really stood out to me.

I used a Christmas angel stamp from LOTV, heat embossed onto a golden paper, attached onto a gold/bronze colored corrugated paper.

At first I hadn't put any embellies on, but I wanted to add a little bit of red and green too, so I added some sequins received from Kim and some die cut holly leaves.

This card is for these challenges:
    Muse Christmas Visions - #15
Winter Wonderland - Christmas Carols/Songs (hark the herald angels sing)
Fab 'n' Funky - #270 Things With Wings

I colored the image using mostly grey and pink Promarkers and I cut it out and made a frame and sentiment using dies from Dienamics. For the birch trees I used a die from Memory Box. I added a piece of cheesecloth and a ribbon trim for my flowers.

    You're sew special

I saw the Muse card today and have already finished my version of it - being a slow cardmaker this is something that rarely happens to me, so I'm quite proud. And I think I might make even more using Michele Ferguson's wonderful card as inspiration.

I was inspired by the layout, white embossed background, vellum and silver detailing.
I wanted to use my neglected buttons embossing folder and my Spellbinders dressmaker die, and I knew I had some sewing themed sentiments in my stash, a freebie set from some time (years?) back. I heat embossed with silver EP onto vellum, added some pearls for the  necklace and some sequins for added sparkle.

    This card is for:
Muse Challenge - CASE Muse's Card
    Just Us Girls Vellum

    Out on the ocean

I'm a bit hooked on cards with lots of white at the moment. So I decided to go with a fairly clean and simple card with just a touch a light blue waves and die cut clouds, being inspired by  the photo over at Ink.  Then I needed to come up with a layout, which the Mojo Monday sketch made really easy for me.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT63rGHwsY8B55udwQMHueb4BgzZoDp-UI02UtOH2udYD9PougKIWYnDi_Bsx4YaTijBZLYlg_2vRb3Iv0Yg5FR9ue4LUsIR8PDa7QhdO2-a7uFnG_rPWImx1-rNtv8PWKmYmzVTSaixiX/s400/Mojo409.gifI used my embossing folder with ropes, which I think also gives an illusion of waves. I made the die cut waves using the negative cuts from a scalloped border die.The frame and sentiment are made with dies from Dienamics and I used a metal charm and string from my stash.

This card is for these challenges:
    Inkspirational - Photo
    Mojo Monday - Sketch #409
Ooh La La Creations - Nautical
CAS on Sunday - #64 Travel

Also wanted to show you the lovely gift I received from Kim of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim - thank you so much! I love the little pouch and the goodies inside it!

    Little Magician

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge over at Outlawz Twisted Thursday, we have the optional twist of "FANTASY" this week, and I used an image of a little magician from our sponsor Bugaboo.

I colored the image using mostly grey and blue Promarkers and I tried to give him red hair. I added some glossy accent on his glasses. I chose papers and embellies using the same grey/blue color scheme and used dies from Tim Holtz (bow), Dienamics (oval frame) and LawnFawn (stars). I also stamped a birthday greeting in Norwegian.

This card is also for these challenges:
    1) Incy Wincy Designs - Frame It
    2) Glitter n Sparkle - #148 Anything goes

    Twofers cats

I saw this new challenge blog - Twofers - and wanted to join in their first challenge which is all about "cats" - my favorite animal. I made two CAS A2 sized cards in black and white using images that came free with a magazine last year.

Card number 1 with the three cats:
The layout is inspired by the sketch over at Sunday Stamps. I used an embossing folder to make the striped background, I machine stitched around the edges and used 2 different circle dies to cut out my images and sentiment. I finished off my card by adding three sequins.

This card is for these challenges:
    Sunday Stamps - #106 Sketch
    Crafty Creations - #294 Four (4 circles)
Simply Create Too - #91 Anything Goes
Dream Valley Challenges - Stripes or Checks

Card number 2 with one cat:
On this one I stamped my cat on a tag cut with a Dienamics die. I left this image uncolored as well.
I mounted the tag on foam onto a white paper, I scored some lines to make a frame. I added paper string and seambinding ribbon as well as 3 sequins.

This card is for these challenges:
    Simply Papercraft - Anything Goes
As You Like it Challenge - Fur or Feathers (Cats are my favorite animals)
Crafting When We Can - # Ribbon, twine or washi
Pile It On - #80 Sequins and/or Beads

    Cat Clown

I'm here to share my DT card for the new "Stella Says Sketch" challenge over at Catch the Bug, featuring an image from Mini Set Kidz clowns.
I used a circle die to cut it and to make its panel. I used a DP from My Mind's Eye as it reminded my of clowns' noses and I used Promarkers in colors that picked up a few of those on the paper.
The upper part is embossed with a chevron embossing folder from Darice. Finally I added 3 red pearls from my stash, again picking up the theme of a clown's nose. I machine stitched with white thread around the edges. I stamped two birthday sentiments.

I also want to include a tip for the Top Tip Tuesday challenge: If in lack of mojo I search for a sketch that I like. Then I choose an image. Once the image is selected I choose DPs and embellies that match  the theme of my image. Then I color the image so that I can coordinate the colors to match my papers.

This card is also for these challenges:
    1) Brown Sugar –#157 Animals
    2) Seize The Birthday - Birthday + Topping -Embossing
    3) Fairy Tale - #123 Boys/Men
    4) Top Tip Tuesday - Bingo (embossing+sentiment+dies)
